Olivia Phaneuf (She/Her) is a saxophonist, educator, and arts administrator based in Austin, TX with a love of collaboration. Currently Olivia teaches private saxophone lessons in the Austin area and serves as the Box Office manager at the Butler School of Music.
Olivia enjoys maintaining an active performing career as a solo and chamber musician and has been invited to perform at schools and festivals across the United States, including the International Saxophone Symposium, Texas A&M International University, Bridgewater State University, Carnegie Mellon University, the Great Plains Saxophone Workshop, TMEA Conference and others. Olivia frequently performs with her duo partner, Megan Elks in their saxophone duo MOXIE, and with Aurochs Quartet.
Olivia is a passionate saxophonist with a love for music education. She wanted to become an educator from a very early age, and is determined to use her leadership skills to enhance others’ lives through music. In May of 2020 Olivia received the Catherine A. English Excellence in Student Teaching Award, and became a New York State Certified Teacher. Her teaching philosophy is to build musical experiences that will lead to lifelong enjoyment, appreciation, and involvement in music, regardless of capacity, time, or place. Olivia believes as musicians it shouldn’t only be our job to play but we should find joy in everything we do with it. Olivia teaches private saxophone lessons in the Eanes ISD, and Lake Travis ISD.
Olivia graduated in May of 2022 with a Master’s of Music in Saxophone Performance from the University of Texas at Austin, under the tutelage of Dr. Stephen C. Page. Olivia earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance and Music Education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, where she studied with Dr. Casey Grev.
Her professional affiliations include the North American Saxophone Alliance, TMEA, the National Association for Music Education, and Sigma Alpha Iota.
